There are many people that are unhappy with the appearance of their teeth. They may be uncomfortable with overcrowded teeth, spaces between teeth, underbites, overbites and tooth misalignment, among others. They have resisted treatment because they did not want to wear traditional braces to correct their problem. Our doctor performs an alternative way to straighten teeth with Invisalign, a modern and nearly invisible option to correct nature’s flaws. With Invisalign patient satisfaction is high, so our doctor gives you a good reason to smile.
What is Invisalign?
Using a custom made series of aligners Invisalign gently and gradually shifts your teeth into place. You simply wear these comfortable, smooth, virtually invisible plastic aligners over your teeth. The best part? Most people won’t even know you’re wearing Invisalign.
During your consultation, our doctor performs an examination to determine if you’re a candidate for Invisalign to see if it’s right for you. Feel free to ask our doctor any questions as we discuss your case in detail.
Once you decide to go ahead with Invisalign, our doctor creates a digital 3-D image of your teeth by taking impressions of your teeth, pictures, and X-rays. This helps our doctor map out a precise plan for your treatment, and you may be shown a virtual representation of how your teeth will move during each stage of treatment.
Patients will have occasional check ups to monitor their progress, in most cases patients will meet with the doctor every six weeks.
How do I use Invisalign?
Your Invisalign treatment works in stages. About every two weeks, you receive and start wearing a new set of aligners. While the number of trays and treatment time varies for each patient, 18 – 30 aligners are the average number.
Are the trays easy to use?
Invisalign patients wear their current set of trays both day and night and only remove them to drink, eat, floss and brush. It’s very simple!
How do I clean my aligners?
The best part is that Invisalign aligners are easy to remove and clean. You simply brush and floss your teeth as normal, and you can clean your aligners with an Invisalign cleaning kit or simply use lukewarm water to brush and rinse them.
How do Invisalign compare to braces?
- You can eat all the foods you love without restrictions
- With braces, you have to worry about food getting stuck in your wires and brackets
- You can play sports without worrying about the sharp brackets cutting your mouth
- For sports that require a protective mouth guard, you can remove Invisalign aligners
- Easier cleaning, with no struggle to floss and brush between brackets and wires
- Enjoy virtually invisible teeth straightening
- Smooth, comfortable plastic versus sharp metal
- Less office visits
How long does Invisalign take?
Every case is unique, however most adult patients need to wear Invisalign aligners for about one year. For teens, the length of treatment is similar to that for braces; however improvement is noted sooner and most prefer the aesthetics of not having their teeth covered by brackets and wires. Throughout treatment, patients who wear aligners for 20 to 22 hours per day experience the best results. To be sure your treatment is progressing; you will have regular visits with our doctor about every six weeks.
Our doctor offers Invisalign to help you achieve the confident smile that you’ve always wanted. The best part about the whole process is that most people won’t even know you’re straightening your teeth. With Invisalign, there’s nothing to hide. Achieving that great smile couldn’t be easier!
